doesn’t make it any easier.
I’ve known for awhile that this would be Ozzie Guillen’s last year with the White Sox. The writing was on the wall. I can’t blame him for not wanting to return next year on a one year deal. What sane coach would do that i f they aren’t retiring?
So when I heard the news, I wasn’t shocked. I was definitely saddened though. It goes without saying, but Ozzie Guillen was the greatest manager the White Sox, hell, Chicago has ever seen. Many have tried to bring the World Series trophy to The Chi, but since 1917, only one man has:

This season was a mess. Ozzie made a lot of questionable moves, as did others in the organization (looking at you, KW). Many on the Sox message board called for his head on a nightly basis, to the point where it was too annoying to go on there. I hope these people are happy. I don’t know where the Sox go from here. I already feel like the next manager will get “The Wannstedt Treatment”, but hey, we’ll see.
The timing is right for Ozzie to head to Miami. I can’t blame him for leaving. Damn, I’m going to miss you, Oz. Can’t wait to see your face plastered on the left field wall. Statue is a must as well. I’m honored that I own a Guillen jersey with the World Series patch.
Most of my friends growing up were Cubs fans, as well as my family. But something about that group of guys on the South Side, in their black uniforms and that sweet ass logo just drew my eye. I didn’t hate the Cubs but what was the point? Black Jack, Big Hurt, Robin, Bo and the gang were all I needed. Even Michael Jordan knew that good guys wore black. And I loved to watch that slick-fielding shortstop named Ozzie Guillen.
He may be going to Miami, but Ozzie Guillen IS the White Sox. Now and forever. Phil/Halas/Ditka/Ozzie. Someone carve their heads in stone already. Good luck, new guy. I hope you’re ready to put your feet in a humongous pair of shoes.
